8 Bottle is a ongoing project centring around growing bottle-gourds, a cultivated vegetable 8 Bottle used in traditional Chinese culture to bring good fortune and luck.

Commissioned by Wysing Arts Centre, 8 Bottle is an exercise in negotiating land use, the joy of gardening, and the relationship between my culture and the local community. More details can be found here.

CONGEE is a series of installations that transform art spaces into temporary canteens where I cook and serve Hong Kong style congee. Congee is a traditional savoury rice porridge that is widely eaten across Asia, however is difficult to find in the UK. The installation combines a number of elements, including performance, sculpture, painting, film and graphic design. More details can be found here.</description>

Words to Live By is a sculpture that continually prints out four words in the form of Chinese idioms every 888 seconds. It was first shown as part of the group show ‘The Protagonist’ at Belmacz︎︎︎. The words are taken from English translations of real ‘Chengyu’ and randomly selected, further removing from their original context and regurgitating them as absurd phrases. Over time these build up to form scrolls, printed onto thermal receipt paper, several meters in length. The printer is housed in a domestic ‘joss house’; a small shrine commonly found in traditional Chinese households, used as not only places of worship but also luck, prosperity and good fortune.</description>

		<description>8 Bottle (2024-present) 


 is a project centering around growing bottle-gourds at Wysing Arts Centre, whilst I was a resident artist between 2024-2025. Gourds are a cultivated vegetable with a history that goes back thousands of years, inspired by a dried bottle-gourd in my parent’s house, given to us to ward off evil spirits and bring good fortune. I have engaged in a body of research into the history and methods of cultivating gourds, but the results of the harvest are always ultimately unknown and subject to the weather and conditions of the site. 


I have hand-knitted ribbons and made lucky charms to encourage the crop to grow, including making the octagonal bed which I hope will bring the plants good luck. The piece has become a focal point for the local artistic community, prompting discussion of the land, its histories and the nature of artistic practice.


 8 Bottle was commissioned by Wysing Arts Centre and installed on-site between June 2024 - June 2025

CONGEE started in 2022, in collaboration with F.A.T. Studio︎︎︎. CONGEE is a series of installations that transform art spaces into temporary canteens where I cook and serve Hong Kong style congee. Congee is a traditional savoury rice porridge that is widely eaten across Asia, however is difficult to find in the UK. The installation combines a number of elements, including performance, sculpture, painting, film and graphic design. In April 2025 I started working with Company, Place on their public arts strategy for the ongoing development at Eddington, Cambridge. Focussing on nature and the proposed building of shared gardens, the strategy looks at the role of artists can play in connecting a sense of place to the local landscape. Central to the new strategy is a rethinking of the traditional installation of static public artworks, and instead looking at more engaging methodoligies: through artist placements, workshops and art that works with the seasons and growing cycles.
In June 2025 I delivered a public engagement event ‘Tracing Trees’ at Storey’s Field Centre. The workshop used rubbing/frottage to ask local residents what relationship they had with the existing nature and trees. The workshop was delivered alongside a guided walk from local artist Jo Sinclair (author of&#38;nbsp;Cambridgeshire: 40 Town &#38;amp; Country Walks, 2021), and coordinated by Company, Place. 		<description>I was taught to knit by my mum when I was a child but it was not until COVID that I started to knit in earnest. Frustrated by knitting patterns, I started to design my own. This has led to a series of drawings, based on colorwork charts, that form an ongoing body of work in their own right.

		<description>Liquid Gold Studios,&#38;nbsp;68 Southampton Row,&#38;nbsp; was an artist-run space for artistic happenings in the heart of London. We were based in an empty shop unit on one of the busiest roads in the city. Through events, residencies and studios, we supported young, emerging artists, promoting conversation, collective practice and investigating alternative models for a sustainable artistic practice in London.
It was co-founded and led by myself and Helen Wilson. The project ran from December 2021 to August 2023.&#38;nbsp;
